ABOUT THE ROSARY OF LIFE FOR THOSE WITH CANCER
My daughter Jennifer Marie was diagnosed with melanoma cancer on February 3, 2010. I composed this rosary with input and encouragement from Jennifer while she underwent inpatient treatment at the John Hopkins Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center in Maryland. Jen's subsequent treatment experiences as well as time spent with her between treatments all gave rise to the rosary bead prayers.
Motivation for sharing this rosary came from Jennifer, my wife Rosa and several parishioners at Our Lady of the Fields, Roman Catholic Church in Millersville, MD who suggested prayers or changes that were incorporated into the rosary. Motivation also came from the courage and tenacity Jennifer showed during her battle with cancer, the love and kindness of our family, many wonderful friends including those on Facebook and from 365 of our brothers and sisters whose names are currently recorded in our parish Cancer Prayer Book.
Inspiration to unify Catholics and others willing to pray the rosary for a cure to cancer is faith based. We know from the Bible that God hears, sees and knows our suffering (Exodus 3:7-9) and answers prayers according to his Divine Will. Although our prayers for a cure to Jennifer's cancer were not answered, many other rosary bead prayers were. We believe that it is through an increase in devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and adoration of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist that we will obtain the blessing of lasting, true cures for all cancers. The ROSARY OF LIFE FOR THOSE WITH CANCER is an opportunity to unite in prayer for all those afflicted with the pestilent of cancer, their family and friends who suffer with them and storm heaven for a cure.
Tuesday, May 29, 2012 marks the second anniversary of the ROSARY OF LIFE FOR THOSE WITH CANCER. Mass will be celebrated at 7:00 pm followed immediately by the cancer rosary. Come join us as we receive the Lamb of God and petition the Blessed Virgin Mary to pray Our Lord Jesus in unity with the Father and the Holy Spirit will hear the cries of those
afflicted with cancer and knowing our suffering will see our prayers as "Lambs blood over our doors" and make all cancer pass away. (Exodus 12:1-13).
You are invited to join us for the rosary on any other Tuesday of the year at 7:30 pm. For directions to our church go to:
